Description

Here is my attempt at a seductive face. I'm not quite sure if I accomplished that look, or if she just looks evil. I'll let you decide. In any case, this is drawing number 5 in my series of expressions made for my art blog. :)

I was looking forward to the time when I would finally get around to commenting on this drawing because the moment I saw it in your gallery I was instantly drawn to it. Does she look seductive? Yes. Does she look evil? Yes. Who says you can't have both? After all, they often go hand-in-hand. This lady right here is a straight-up femme fatale who is extremely entrancing. There's something about her that reminds me of Michelle Pfeiffer or Susan Sarandon here. It's amazing.

I think the key to this expression working so effectively here is the fact that you've tilted her head. As such, it creates a different angle for which we look at her eyes. They gaze upwards when they'd otherwise be looking straight forward. In some ways, the tilting of her head implies that she's shifting the power to who she's looking at but it's deceptive since she has the power here. Those sweeping eyes of her convey such a strong sense of sensuality. The long eyelashes and the raised eyes work together to ensure that the viewer is drawn into her web of seduction. Of course, those curved eyelashes and the slight way the left one raises only helps to emphasize this even further. She has a small nose with little detail to it but I feel this works to the advantage of this piece since I think it only forces our eyes upward. It's a very smart move. All that emphasis placed on those eyes... it's magical. Those lips? They look beyond great too. The slight part is PERFECT! It's very seductive. When a woman parts her lips it signifies sensuality and sexual interest so it's great to see you picking up on that with this piece. All together the individual elements of her face works together so well as to create a perfect unity that conveys simmering seduction. I also think that in a lot of ways the hairstyle you've chosen also helps. I like that it's shorter than the other styles you've done in previous pieces since there's a maturity about it. I also think it was a smart move to add the curl as well since it adds an inadvertent homage to the femmes fatales from old film noir movies. Honestly, I just can't get over how great this piece looks and I lament the fact that you haven't gone the extra step to colour it. It looks... seriously girl... AMAZING! Haha! I'm not just saying that because I'm your friend but because as an artist I am sufficiently impressed and downright jealous by the beauty of this piece. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
